There is such joy to be had in decorating a child’s room. It gives us an excuse to indulge in some playful details which may be seen as over-the-top in the rest of the house.

Adding unique artwork to a bedroom wall makes a great finishing touch, but professional framing can be expensive- I’d rather spend my money on the artwork than the framing. Here are some hanging ideas which are big on personality but won’t overstretch the purse strings.

The clean lines of Ikea's Ribba frame make a simple and an affordable option which will suit most contemporary or classic-style rooms. Available in black, white and birch to suit your décor.

This simple, casual way of hanging a print uses the natural materials of sea grass cord and timber pegs, and blends in beautifully with the neutral colour scheme of the room.

I picked up this aluminium frame in a thrift store for a song. All it took was light scrub with some super-fine steel wool to make the surface like new again.

This ornate timber frame was prettied up with a lick of white paint. You can have mat boards cut at a picture framing studio or if you have a few to do, why not invest in your own mat board cutter.

The punchy colour of this 80's red enamel frame pops out from the wall but co-ordinates with the rosy pinks of the print. This one was a thrift shop find too- I love to recycle.
